OpenAI is constructing its first international AI data center, "Stargate," in Abu Dhabi, UAE, in partnership with G42, Oracle, NVIDIA, Cisco, and SoftBank. This initiative marks a significant step towards the UAE's goal of becoming a global AI leader. The 5-gigawatt facility, spanning approximately 10 square miles, will be significantly larger than OpenAI's planned U.S. campus and aims to expand AI capabilities to new global markets.
The Stargate UAE project strengthens the growing AI partnership between the UAE and the U.S., building on existing collaborations. The UAE will be the first country to offer nationwide ChatGPT services, integrating the tool across government agencies and key sectors. All UAE residents will receive ChatGPT-Plus subscriptions, ensuring broad access to OpenAI's tools.
This data center will serve as a major AI infrastructure hub, potentially reaching half the world's population within a 2,000-mile radius. OpenAI aims to create a globally distributed AI network, accelerating AI adoption across multiple countries. The project enables governments and businesses to integrate cutting-edge technologies into their operations.
The Stargate UAE facility represents a pivotal moment in AI technology, enabling faster access to advanced tools and solidifying the UAE's role in global AI innovation. With this initiative, OpenAI is laying the groundwork for a more connected, AI-driven world, with plans for future Stargate facilities in other regions.
