Europe's Highest Viewing Gallery

1 Undershaft, a 74-story skyscraper designed by Eric Parry Architects, is poised to become London's tallest building, reaching a height of 309.6 meters and matching The Shard. Approved in December 2024, the project involves demolishing the existing St Helen's Tower and is slated for completion in 2030. Located between the "Gherkin" and the Leadenhall Building, 1 Undershaft will feature extensive public spaces, including a free elevated garden, a public screen, and Europe's highest public viewing gallery.

The building will offer high-quality office space, a new public square with a forest-inspired design, and enhanced greening at ground level. Sustainable features include rainwater harvesting and solar panels, aiming for a high BREEAM rating. The design incorporates an innovative external bracing system for flexible floor plates. Upon completion, 1 Undershaft is expected to house offices, luxury residences, and retail spaces, attracting millions of visitors and boosting local businesses.

The project aims to be a prototype for environmentally conscious skyscrapers, aligning with the City of London's goal of adding 1.2 million square meters of new office space by 2040. During construction, the project is expected to create thousands of jobs. The observation deck is expected to provide a unique city view.
