Masdar City's M19 A&B Office Buildings have become the first commercial office development in the UAE to earn a 5 Pearl Estidama rating, the highest level in Abu Dhabi's sustainability assessment system. This achievement, announced at the Abu Dhabi Infrastructure Summit, signifies a major step in sustainable urban development and aligns with the UAE's Net Zero 2050 goals. The buildings showcase exceptional performance in energy efficiency, water conservation, and environmental sustainability.
The M19 A&B buildings demonstrate remarkable energy and water savings. They have achieved over 91% energy savings compared to international benchmarks, thanks to smart design and solar energy systems. Furthermore, the buildings have reduced indoor water consumption by 45% through efficient water systems and smart controls. The project also boasts a 56% reduction in heat gain and a 63% decrease in cooling demand.
This development incorporates several sustainable features, including electric vehicle charging stations, bicycle parking connected to the city's cycling network, shaded walkways, and sustainable construction materials. Masdar City aims to secure LEED Platinum and WELL Gold certifications to further enhance its sustainability and wellness standards. This project reinforces Abu Dhabi's position as a global leader in sustainable infrastructure and innovation.
