New Development Planned Near Makkah Mosque

King Salman Gate, a massive urban development project in Makkah, aims to redefine the city's infrastructure and urban landscape. Strategically located near the Grand Mosque, the project will encompass 12 million square meters and accommodate approximately 900,000 worshippers. The project aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, seeking to enhance visitor services and enrich spiritual and cultural experiences.

The development will integrate Makkah's architectural heritage with modern design, preserving the city's historical identity. It includes the rehabilitation of around 19,000 square meters of heritage and cultural zones. Furthermore, King Salman Gate will connect to public transport networks, improving access to the Grand Mosque for pilgrims and visitors.

The project is expected to generate over 300,000 jobs by 2036, contributing significantly to economic diversification. Developed by Rou'a Al-Haram Al-Makki Company, a Public Investment Fund subsidiary, the project emphasizes sustainable resource management and innovative solutions to improve the quality of life for residents and pilgrims.

This project is part of Saudi Arabia's broader Vision 2030 initiative, which aims to reduce reliance on oil revenues and develop sectors like tourism and hospitality. The Kingdom's giga-projects have seen a 20% increase in contract awards this year, reaching $196 billion.
