Jessika Roso Malic, a former Emirates stewardess from Phoenix, shared her experience of living and working in Dubai. In 2010, Malic moved to Dubai to work for Emirates, where she lived a glamorous life for six years. However, the hectic work schedule and the physical toll of the job eventually led her to move back to Phoenix in 2017.
Malic's time in Dubai was a whirlwind. She was fascinated by the diverse cultures and international businesses in the city. However, she found it challenging to navigate the city's lack of an address system and the difficulty of getting things done over the phone. Additionally, the humidity and the lack of outdoor activities, such as hiking and camping, made her miss the amenities of Phoenix.
Despite the perks of her job, including housing and a live-out allowance, Malic struggled with the physical demands of the job. She was frequently sick and experienced food poisoning, which eventually led her to become tired of flying. In 2015, Malic and her husband decided to purchase a house in Phoenix, and they moved back permanently in 2017. Malic is now working as a communications and events manager at a nonprofit, and she is happy to be settled and close to her friends and family in Phoenix.
