Phase 1 of Large Construction Project Begins in Dubai

The Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC) is undergoing a massive $2.7 billion expansion project, with the first phase already underway. The UK-based construction company Mace, known for its work on iconic projects like The Shard and Battersea Power Station, has been appointed to handle the first phase of the development.

When the entire project is complete, the DEC will boast an impressive 180,000 square meters of exhibition space, spanning 26 halls and stretching 1.2 kilometers. This will make it the largest indoor events and exhibition space in the region, solidifying Dubai's status as a global leader in the events and exhibitions sector.

The expansion of the DEC is strategically aligned with the visionary goals of Expo City Dubai, the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, and the ongoing expansion of Al Maktoum International Airport, which is set to become the world's largest airport. Mace, which previously completed the original DEC (formerly known as COEX) for Expo 2020 Dubai, is excited to bring its expertise to this landmark project and support the continued development of Dubai's events and exhibitions industry.
