Dubai has launched a Dh2.5 billion economic support package, approved by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aimed at bolstering businesses, workers, and residents. This latest initiative, encompassing 33 measures to be rolled out over the next 3-12 months, builds upon a previous Dh1 billion package. The primary goal is to alleviate financial pressures and stimulate economic activity across various sectors.
Key benefits of the package include reduced government fees for hotels and restaurants, significant savings on permits for event organizers, and license relief for holiday home operators. Small businesses will benefit from extended membership periods, while educational institutions receive deferrals and instalment plans for fees. Contractors will experience improved cash flow through reduced retention security requirements, and importers can opt for instalment payments for customs dues. Additionally, customs fines have been reduced, building permits extended, and home loan approvals for UAE nationals extended.
The package also offers targeted exemptions for event and tourism-related businesses facing temporary challenges, such as desert safari operators and marina businesses. These exemptions cover various fees, providing crucial financial breathing room. The government emphasizes its commitment to monitoring economic conditions and responding to emerging challenges with further support if needed.
